I decided to head to Bukit Bintang for dinner with my family. Missy was feeling particularly cheerful because she scored well for her test, so she wore her favorite pink outfit in anticipation for the Baskin Robbin’s Every Wednesday is Pink Day’s promotion.
We were all in the mood for some classic hawker food, so we headed to Lot 10 Hutong Food Court. We ordered the Dry Char Siu (BBQ Pork) Wantan Noodles from Ho Weng Kee, Penang’s Char Kuey Teow and Macao Pork Bun from Missy’s favorite stall. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was lively and fun, and we felt incredibly lucky that all the food we ordered was perfectly cooked.
We started off with Ho Weng Kee’s Dry Char Siu (BBQ Pork) Wanton Noodles. The char siu was perfectly cooked, not too lean nor too fat, and the sauce for the noodles was just right. It was the perfect balance of sweet and savory.
My boss had his favourite Penang’s Char Kuey Teow – this dish is a classic Penang hawker style’s stir-fry noodle dish made with flat rice noodles, shrimp, cockles, Chinese sausage, eggs, and bean sprouts. It’s typically seasoned with soy sauce, oyster sauce, fish sauce, chili paste, and garlic. The char kuey teow at LOT 10 Hutong Food Court was excellent.
Missy had the Macao Pork Buns. These buns are lightly toasted with butter or margarine and sandwiched with a thick slice of fried pork chop. The pork chop is usually well seasoned with spices and deep fried.
After dinner, we headed to Baskin Robbin in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur to enjoy the “Every Wednesday is Pink Day” promo for the Double Junior Scoop at 31% off. I had a scoop of Cookies and Cream and a scoop of Peanut Butter Chocolate. Missy had 2 scoops of Jamaica Almond Fudge. All 3 flavors were delicious, and the ice cream was smooth and creamy.
As we were savoring our ice cream, we heard loud live music coming from the center court. We then took a stroll to where the music was coming from and that’s when we bumped into The Hour Glass’s GPHG event. The GPHG, or the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix, is one of the most prestigious awards ceremonies in the watchmaking industry. Watching from a distance, we saw live performances and the guests were engrossed in lively conversations, sipping on their drinks and nibbling on gourmet bites.
So, there’s my pleasant evening that started with a delicious meal and ended with a musical performance. Life is full of surprises, and sometimes, all you need to do is follow the music (or the aroma of delicious food!). Until our next foodie adventure, keep exploring and savoring every moment! 🍜🍦🎶
